Reduced-Price Previews Jan 21 & 22

A new show based on the beloved bestselling children’s book. Accidentally dropped by her mother, helpless Stellaluna falls into a nest of bird fledglings, where she is graciously accepted as one of the family—as long as she acts like a bird and doesn’t confuse her adoptive siblings.

Themes: Animals (fruit bats, birds), family, celebrating differences

Puppetry Styles: Tabletop, rod, marionette, shadow

Create-A-Puppet Workshop™: Stellaluna Rod & String Puppet

Sensory-Friendly Programming

Sun, Feb 16, 2020

12-5pm: Museum exhibits
1pm & 3pm: Performances
12-5pm: Create-A-Puppet Workshops™

Guests will be welcomed by staff members who have been trained in interactions with patrons with ASD.

Performance alterations include theater lights dimmed down but not out, consistent sound levels and lower volume of show soundtrack, freedom for children to talk and to leave their seat if necessary, a quiet zone in the lobby, and permission to bring quiet, contained snacks and beverages. Create-A-Puppet Workshop classrooms will be brighter, quieter, and feature less-messy puppet building materials and slightly simplified puppet designs. This modified programming also extends to include our expanded Museum, where lighting will be adjusted and specialized educational activities (such as touch tables and guided storytelling) will be integrated.

Noise-reducing headphones, sunglasses, and fidget toys are available upon request, and social stories are available for download on our website.
